FAQs
What is ugly hollywood?
Ugly Hollywood is a community of artists organizing through mutual aid to share resources, increase accessibility to the arts, and tackle social and environmental justice issues. With a focus on art and how it can bring people together, our members have the opportunity to participate in collaborative creative projects and access each other’s equipment, knowledge, and other resources. In addition to being an artist collective, we strive to be active members of our local communities, organizing and participating in grassroots efforts to create a more equitable and just society.

where do we operate?
While most of our steering committee members are currently located in Raleigh, we welcome members from all over the world. Members can attend our meetings and many of our events virtually, and can still receive and give support from afar. We are invested in acting locally, but this is not limited to participating in communities geographically near to us. When we say acting locally, we mean becoming involved in grassroots efforts, interacting with and supporting everyday people, and focusing on the power of individuals rather than institutions all over the world. We understand that it is intention, not distance, that defines this level of action. Our efforts gain momentum from a strong network of local artists that stretches across the globe.
our mission
Our mission is to build a network of mutual aid and solidarity grounded in the arts that empowers our communities to meet their needs without relying on the state or capitalistic structures.
Through collaborative projects, community events, and educational outreach, Ugly Hollywood strives to create a more inclusive and equitable world. We believe that everyone should have access to the arts, and we work to ensure that our events and initiatives are accessible to all.
Ugly Hollywood is dedicated to building a strong, supportive community of artists who share our vision for a better world. We believe that art has the power to inspire change and bring people together and we are committed to using our collective voice to make a difference.
