Lou Goodtree

Lou Goodtree works in a variety of mediums: oil paint, micron ink, acrylic paint, as well as digital media and tattoos. Lou's body of work ranges from illustrative woodland critters, surrealist scenes, witchcraft inspired iconography, to "Cadaver" self portraits.
Their body of work, "Cadavers" explores feelings of dysphoria living as a nonbinary person. The 10 paintings within the series show a mangled and discolored human figure missing a head and limbs. Its unsettling nature mixed with the unidentifiable figure keeps the viewer at a distance, as they feel distanced from their own body.
Their current body of work sees a shift into brighter colors, and recurring images of wriggling eyeballs, fangs/bones, and forest scenery.
Their tattoo style keeps in theme with their painting style, while also adding in elements of blackwork, making for bolder designs. The flash currently in their books is a balance of illustrative forrest creatures and cyber sigil blackwork.
